 Itinerary

Day 1: MUMBAI – VARANASI

Travel to: Varanasi via Mumbai by (Air/Rail). Night halt in Varanasi

Mode of Travel: Air/Rail/Vehicle

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 2: VARANASI

Places to be seen:

  • Early morning boat ride in tht Ganges.
  • Afternoon visit Sarnath – where the Buddha preached his first sermon in the Deer Park, as well as a modern temple.
  • Apart from it one can visit Vishwanath temple (old/new).
  • Durga temple ,Kal bhairav temple.
  • Sankat Moochan Temple , Durga Temple and Tulsi Manas temple.
  • Free time for shopping & visit Ganga aarti in the evening.
  • Overnight at hotel.

Day 3: VARANASI – BODHGAYA

Travel to: Bodhgaya via Varanasi. Night halt at Bodhgaya.

Day 4: BODHGAYA

Places to be seen:

  • As the place of the Buddha’s Enlightenment, Bodhgaya is the spiritual home of Buhddhists.
  • It attracts believers from all over the world.
  • Bodhgaya situated near the river Niranjana, is one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimage centres since it was here that Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, where Gautam Buddha was enlightened to the Knowledge of Spiritual World & Lotus tank – where it is believed that Buddha spent one week .
  • Also visit archeological musem in Bodhgaya.
  • Visit Vishnupad temple – 220 year old temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

Day 5: BODHGAYA -RAJGIR

Travel to: RAJGIR – NALANDA – VAISHAL

Places to be seen:

  • Proceed to Nalanda.
  • On arrival visit Nalanda University, one of the greatest learning centers in ancient India.
  • Many international scholars and travellersatracted to this university.
  • Visit Nalanda museum .
  • Later visit Vishwa shanti stupa at Rajgir.
  • Night halt at Rajgir

Day 6: RAJGIR – PATNA

Travel to: Patna via Rajgir enroute Vaishali.

Places to be seen:

  • Ashoka pillar,Bawan pokhar temple, Buddhist stupa 1,2.
  • Abhishek pushkaran, Kundalpur, Raja vishal ka garh, Kesayiya stupa in Patna and Mahavir Mandir in Patna

Day 7: KUSHINAGAR

Travel to: Kushinagar via Patna.

Places to be seen:

  • Kushinagar is where the Buddha finally attained Mahaparmirvana.
  • Amongst the ruins are the Mukutbandhan Stupa and a beautiful statue of the reclining Buddha ,on arrival transfer to hotel.
  • Afternoon visit Nirvana Temple , Ramabhar Stupa & Cremation site of Lord Buddha.
  • Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 8: SHRAVASTI

Travel to: Shravasti via kushinagar

Places to be seen:

  • The age-old stupas, splendid monasteries, majestic temples, and beautiful gardens of Shravasti,near the village of Sahet Mahet.
  • A prominent city during Gautam Buddha’s lifetime.
  • The famous Ananda Bodhi Tree under which Lord Buddha meditated for a night is situated here.

Day 9: LUMBINI

Travel to: Lumbini via Sravasti

Places to be seen:

  • The birthplace of the Buddha, Mayadevi temple, & Ashokan pillar.
  • Later visit Kapilavastu – the ancient Shakya Kingdom where Gautama Buddha grew up.
  • Night halt at Lumbini

Day 10: KATHMANDU

Places to be seen:

  • Dakshinkali temple, National museum of Nepal, Narayanhiti palace museum, Gardens of dream shechen monestary, Pashupatinath temple, Boudhanath stupa.
  • Evening time for shopping.

Day 11: KATHMANDU – MUMBAI
